Inspiring the Best and Brightest Honors College The Honors College has accomplished so much since it was instituted in 2003, but there is so much more to do. The “Our Students. Our Future.” campaign will help increase the number of scholarships in order to retain the best in-state students and attract others from across the country. New funds will help the Honors College offer special summer programs for each student’s freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years that will give students the opportunity to bond with each other, serve the community, pursue educational travel at home and abroad, and experience hands-on learning during internships. Achieving the campaign goal will also provide special seminars for students, faculty fellowships for instructors, and expanded support for those programs unique to the Honors College, such as the Honors Academy. The Honors College’s ability to achieve its goals will rely in large part on the generosity of alumni and friends. With their help, the Honors College will ensure that students who might otherwise choose to attend other universities will instead choose The University of Alabama.
